Teacher Development Workshops
Our teacher development workshops allows us to deliver specialist knowledge to class teachers so that they can improve students' science education at its source.
RAISE Gambia has been facilitating Teacher Development Workshops since its inception in 2017.
The purpose of these workshops is to enhance the skills of practicing teachers and encourage and support them in the use of active learning techniques and practical experiments in the classroom.
Separate workshops are organised for Upper Basic and Senior Secondary school teachers. Originally these workshops were aimed at improving active learning and practical work teaching skills in general but have since become more targeted.
The Senior Secondary workshops being focussed on enabling teachers to prepare their students for the practical exams in the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) in the physics, chemistry and biology syllabuses.
Upper Basic School workshops will now concentrate on supporting teachers in the use of the Practical Experiment Kits, provided through the Lab in a Cab initiative.
